Schöller is a historic brand in the European ice cream market, with deep roots in Germany. It was founded in Nuremberg by Theo Schöller in 1937 and became a dominant player in the frozen treats and baked goods sectors. Over decades, it expanded its footprint across Europe through retail and food service channels.
In 2002, the brand was acquired by Nestlé, which integrated Schöller into its global ice cream operations. However, in 2016, Nestlé entered a joint venture with R&R Ice Cream to create Froneri. As part of this transition, the Schöller brand moved under the management of Froneri, which now handles production across various European facilities to serve multiple regional markets.
Today, Schöller remains a household name, particularly in Germany and Austria. The brand's ownership structure reflects the modern consolidation of the ice cream industry, where global giants like Nestlé and dedicated specialists like R&R (under the PAI Partners umbrella) collaborate to manage and distribute historic local brands.
