Knorr is one of the world's best-known food brands, specializing in bouillon cubes, soup mixes, and seasonings. The brand was established in Heilbronn, Germany, in 1838 by Carl Heinrich Knorr, who pioneered experiments in drying vegetables and seasonings to preserve their flavor and nutritional value.
While Knorr originated in Germany, it was acquired by the multinational conglomerate Unilever in 2000 as part of its acquisition of Bestfoods. Today, Knorr products are sold globally and manufactured in numerous facilities to serve local markets. For the European market, a significant portion of production, particularly for bouillon cubes, occurs in Italy, though manufacturing footprints exist across multiple continents.
Under Unilever's ownership, the brand has focused on sustainability and healthy eating initiatives. It remains a flagship brand in Unilever's Nutrition division, maintaining its status as a household staple across more than 90 countries.
