Kilbeggan is a historic brand of Irish whiskey with roots dating back to the establishment of the Old Kilbeggan Distillery in 1757, making it one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Ireland. The whiskey is traditionally produced in Kilbeggan, County Westmeath, using copper pot stills, though some production stages may involve the Cooley Distillery in County Louth.
Following a period of closure in the mid-20th century, the brand was revived by Cooley Distillery in the 1980s. In 2011, Beam Inc. acquired Cooley Distillery and its brands, including Kilbeggan. Beam subsequently merged with the Japanese company Suntory in 2014 to form Beam Suntory. Today, the brand is owned by Suntory Global Spirits, a major global player in the spirits industry headquartered in the United States, which continues to promote Kilbeggan as a premium, traditional Irish whiskey.
