Spontex, founded in France in 1932, is a globally recognized brand specializing in high-performance household cleaning tools. The brand's name is a portmanteau of 'sponge' and 'textile,' reflecting its early innovation in combining these two elements to create durable cleaning solutions. Throughout its history, Spontex has become synonymous with domestic efficiency and ergonomic design.
Over the decades, the brand underwent several ownership changes, notably being part of the Hutchinson Group (a subsidiary of Total). In 2010, the brand was acquired by the American consumer goods giant Jarden Corporation. Following Jarden's merger with Newell Rubbermaid in 2016, Spontex became part of the Newell Brands portfolio. Today, while it maintains strong manufacturing roots in its home country of France, its distribution and production footprint spans across Europe and international markets under the umbrella of Newell Brands.
