Leica Mini point-and-shoot camera

The Leica Mini is a classic 35mm point-and-shoot film camera released in the early 1990s. While it carries the prestigious German Leica branding and features a Leica Elmar 35mm f/3.5 lens, it was part of a strategic partnership where the hardware was largely manufactured in Japan by Panasonic (then Matsushita). This collaboration allowed Leica to enter the compact consumer market with high-quality optics paired with Japanese electronics.

Today, Leica Camera AG remains a premier German manufacturer of high-end cameras and lenses. Since 2011, the company has been majority-owned by the Austrian investment firm ACM Projektentwicklung GmbH, led by Andreas Kaufmann, with a significant minority stake held by the US-based Blackstone Group. The brand remains synonymous with luxury photography and German engineering, though compact models historically utilized Global manufacturing partnerships.
