Telefunken is a legendary brand in the history of radio and television technology, founded in Berlin in 1903. Originally born from a joint venture between Siemens & Halske and AEG, it played a pivotal role in the development of early wireless telegraphy and broadcasting standards.

Following the dissolution of the original AEG-Telefunken conglomerate in the 1980s and 1990s, the brand identity survived through a complex licensing model. Today, Telefunken is not a single manufacturing entity but a brand managed by Telefunken Licenses GmbH. Manufacturing is outsourced to various global partners; for instance, many Telefunken televisions in the European market are manufactured by the Turkish electronics giant Vestel.

Ownership of the brand name rights belongs to Telefunken Licenses GmbH, while the professional audio segment is largely associated with Telefunken Elektroakustik, based in the USA. This structure allows the heritage of the Telefunken name to remain active across diverse segments of the consumer electronics industry worldwide.
