Philips Hue Smart Lighting

Philips Hue was launched in 2012 by Philips Lighting, then a division of the Dutch multinational Royal Philips. It quickly became the industry standard for smart home lighting, introducing wireless control and millions of color options to domestic environments. In 2016, Philips spun off its lighting division into a separate entity named Philips Lighting, which was subsequently renamed Signify in 2018.

While the brand still uses the legacy Philips name under a licensing agreement, the ultimate corporate parent is now Signify N.V. Manufacturing for these sophisticated electronics takes place largely in specialized facilities in China to ensure global distribution and technological scale, though assembly and logistics are managed through various international hubs. Today, the brand remains a leader in the internet-of-things (IoT) sector, headquartered in the Netherlands.
