Aral fuel and automotive products

Aral is Germany's leading fuel brand, recognized for its iconic blue and white logo. The brand has a history dating back to 1898, originally established as Westdeutsche Benzol-Verkaufs-Vereinigung in Bochum. The name 'Aral' was coined in 1924, derived from the first two letters of the aromatic (AR-omaten) and aliphatic (AL-iphaten) groups of organic compounds.

Today, Aral operates a massive network of petrol stations and is known not just for fuels like Ultimate 102, but also for its 'Rewe To Go' partnership in convenience stores. While it began as a purely German enterprise, it has undergone several ownership changes during the consolidation of the global energy market.

Since 2002, Aral has been a wholly-owned brand of bp (British Petroleum). This merger integrated Aral's extensive German retail network with bp's global resources. While the brand remains focused on the German market and produces much of its product via German refineries, it operates as part of a British multinational corporate structure.
