Fisherman's Friend is a globally recognized brand of strong menthol lozenges. The brand originated in 1865 in Fleetwood, Lancashire, England. Originally developed by pharmacist James Lofthouse to help North Sea fishermen combat respiratory issues caused by the freezing and salty conditions, the recipe has remained largely unchanged for over 150 years.
The manufacturing process continues to take place in the brand's hometown of Fleetwood, where the Lofthouse family still oversees production. While the marketing and distribution are handled by various local companies worldwide—such as CFP Brands in Germany and Ed. Haas in Austria—the brand itself remains family-owned, maintaining its legacy as an independent British confectionery staple.
