Maarud is Norway's most iconic snack brand, deeply rooted in the country's agricultural history. The brand began its journey at the Maarud farm in Sør-Odal, where the Stang family started industrial production of potato chips in 1936. Over decades, it has become synonymous with the Norwegian 'fredagskos' (Friday coziness) tradition, maintaining a dominant market position through its signature recipes and local production.

Today, the primary manufacturing facility remains in Disenå, Norway, where locally grown potatoes are processed into various snacks. Although the brand is a Norwegian national treasure, its ownership has transitioned through several international hands, including Kraft Foods and Hercules Capital, before being acquired by its current parent company.

Since 2014, Maarud has been a key part of the Intersnack Group, a German-based multinational that specializes in savory snacks across Europe. This ownership allows Maarud to benefit from a global supply chain and innovation while maintaining its local Norwegian identity and production roots.
