The company was founded in London in 1981, initially operating as a concession called 'Office London' within the Hyper Hyper boutique on Kensington High Street. The brand's unique name was inspired by the fact that its early products were displayed on old office furniture. Since its inception, OFFICE has expanded significantly, opening its first standalone store on King's Road in 1984 and later launching the sportswear-focused brand OFFSPRING in 1996.

Today, OFFICE is a leading footwear specialist in the UK and Ireland, known for its in-house designs and partnerships with global brands like Nike, Adidas, and Converse. While the brand's creative and design operations are headquartered in London, its manufacturing is distributed across multiple countries, including various locations in Europe and Asia, to support its diverse product range.

In December 2015, the brand was acquired by Truworths International, a major fashion retailer based in South Africa. Under Truworths' ownership, OFFICE continues to maintain its identity as a trend-setting footwear destination with a significant presence in high-street retail and e-commerce.
