Red Band Salzheringe, also known as Zoute Haringen, are iconic salted licorice candies shaped like herring. The brand was established in 1928 by Mr. Overwater in Roosendaal, Netherlands, taking over a former match factory to begin its confectionery production. Known for its distinct butterfly logo, Red Band became a household name in the Netherlands with the famous slogan "Red Band, als je voor pret bent."

Today, the brand is owned by the Swedish confectionery giant Cloetta, which acquired it through the merger with Leaf (formerly CSM) in 2012. While Red Band maintains its strong Dutch heritage and continues to produce many of its classic candies in the Netherlands, it is part of Cloetta's diverse international portfolio.
