Mars, Incorporated is a globally recognized American multinational known for its leadership in the confectionery, pet care, and food industries. Originally founded in 1911 by Frank C. Mars in Tacoma, Washington, the company gained massive popularity with the introduction of the Milky Way bar in 1923 and Snickers in 1930. The brand expanded internationally under Frank's son, Forrest Mars Sr., who established operations in the United Kingdom and pioneered the pet food segment through the acquisition of Chappel Brothers.
Today, Mars remains one of the world's largest privately held companies, still entirely owned by the Mars family. Its manufacturing network is extensive, with production facilities in more than 80 countries including the United States, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, China, and Brazil. In recent years, Mars has continued to grow through major acquisitions, such as the 2024 deal to acquire Kellanova, which brought iconic snack brands like Pringles and Cheez-It into its portfolio, further solidifying its dominance in the global snacking market.
