Forxiga (dapagliflozin)

Forxiga is a prescription medication used primarily for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease. Its active ingredient, dapagliflozin, works by inhibiting the SGLT2 protein in the kidneys, which helps the body remove excess glucose through urine. The brand was originally co-developed by the British-Swedish pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca and the American firm Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS). While it is marketed as Forxiga in Europe and most other regions, it is sold under the name Farxiga in the United States.
