Mahabis slippers

Mahabis is a premium lifestyle brand that gained international fame for reinventing the traditional slipper. Founded in London in 2014 by Ankur Shah, the brand utilized a digital-first marketing strategy and innovative design features, such as detachable rubber soles that allow the slippers to be worn both indoors and outdoors. The company's rapid growth was fueled by high-impact social media advertising, though it faced financial challenges that led to a corporate restructuring in late 2018.

In January 2019, Mahabis was acquired out of administration by YYX Capital, an investment firm co-founded by Simba Sleep entrepreneur James Cox. Under this new ownership, the brand pivoted its strategy to focus more on traditional retail channels and sustainable growth. Manufacturing for Mahabis products is largely centered in Europe; the uppers and final assembly typically occur in family-run factories in Portugal, while the specialized rubber soles have historically been sourced from Italy to leverage the region's footwear heritage. Some components and specific ranges are also produced in China.
