Suunto is a prestigious Finnish brand that has been a leader in the outdoor and adventure industry since its founding in 1936. The company was established by Tuomas Vohlonen, a Finnish surveyor who invented a unique liquid-filled compass that set new standards for accuracy and durability. For decades, the brand has been synonymous with Finnish craftsmanship, specializing in high-performance sports watches, dive computers, and precision navigational tools used by professionals and outdoor enthusiasts worldwide.

While Suunto was previously a subsidiary of Amer Sports (which was acquired by the Chinese conglomerate Anta Sports in 2019), it underwent a significant ownership change in May 2022. The brand was acquired by Liesheng, a Chinese technology company that focuses on smart wearables and consumer electronics. Despite this acquisition, Suunto continues to maintain its global headquarters and primary manufacturing facilities in Vantaa, Finland. This facility is responsible for handcrafting most of the brand's flagship and premium products, ensuring the 'Made in Finland' heritage remains central to its identity. Some mass-market models and specific components are produced in China to leverage global supply chains, but the core design and high-end assembly remain firmly rooted in Finland.
