Seriously Strong cheese

Seriously Strong is a renowned brand of extra-mature Scottish cheddar cheese, originally established in 1850 by Archibald McLelland. The brand is deeply rooted in Scotland's dairy heritage, specifically in the South-West coast region. Its signature intense flavor and 'crunchy' texture—caused by naturally occurring calcium lactate crystals—are the result of a lengthy maturation process that typically lasts over 14 months.

While the brand maintains its traditional Scottish identity, it has been under international ownership since 2004, when it was acquired by the French dairy giant Lactalis. Despite the change in parent company, production remains centralized in Scotland. The cheese is manufactured at the Caledonian Cheese Company factory in Stranraer, which utilizes milk sourced from local Scottish dairy farms. This commitment to local sourcing and production allows the brand to maintain its authentic Scottish cheddar status while benefiting from the global distribution network of its parent company.
