Hofbrauhaus Wolters Black Beer

Hofbrauhaus Wolters is a historic German brewery with a legacy dating back to 1627. Founded by Zacharias Boiling in Braunschweig, the brewery gained its prestigious 'Hofbrauhaus' (Ducal Court Brewery) title in 1882 from the Duke of Brunswick.

The brand has undergone several ownership changes in the modern era. After being part of the Gilde Group and subsequently acquired by Interbrew (now AB InBev) in 2003, it faced the threat of closure. However, in 2006, a local management buyout saved the company, returning it to independent private status. In 2020, the regional cooperative bank Volksbank BRAWO eG acquired 100% of the shares to ensure the long-term stability of this cultural institution. Today, the beer is still brewed in its original home of Braunschweig, Germany, maintaining strict adherence to the German Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot).
