Its debut product was baking powder, followed shortly by custard powder. Today, the brand is owned by Foodstuffs (NZ) Ltd and serves as the private label for its major supermarket chains, including New World, PAK'nSAVE, and Four Square. While the identity of the original 'Pam' remains a mystery—with theories ranging from it being an acronym to a person's name—the brand has become a staple in Kiwi households.

Manufacturing of Pams products occurs in multiple countries depending on the specific item. While many fresh goods, dairy, and meat products are sourced and produced within New Zealand to support local industry, other shelf-stable products and specialized goods (such as frozen pizzas or certain snacks) are imported from international suppliers in countries like Italy, Australia, and Asia to maintain competitive pricing.
