Cath Kidston is an iconic British lifestyle brand born in 1993, founded by English designer Catherine Isabel Audrey Kidston. The brand first gained a cult following from a small shop in London's Holland Park, where it sold vintage-style fabrics and homewares. Its signature 'modern vintage' aesthetic, featuring hand-painted floral prints and nostalgic designs, quickly expanded from individual boutiques into a global retail empire.
While the brand's design roots are firmly planted in British heritage, the manufacturing of its beauty and personal care lines, including its popular hand creams, takes place across multiple locations. Many of these products are manufactured in China to support global distribution, though certain premium collections have historically been produced in England.
In recent years, the brand transitioned from a physical retail-heavy model to a digital-first approach. Following a period of financial restructuring, the Cath Kidston brand was acquired in March 2023 by the British retail giant Next plc. Under Next's ownership, the brand continues to expand its reach through strategic licensing agreements, ensuring its whimsical prints remain a staple in the beauty and home categories worldwide.
