Symington's is a historic British food manufacturer with deep roots in the UK's industrial pantry staples Market. Founded in 1827 by William Symington, the company initially gained fame for inventing pea flour and providing supplies for expeditions and the military. Over nearly two centuries, it evolved into a specialist in the convenience food sector, producing a wide variety of dry mixes, instant noodles, and pasta snacks.
Today, Symington's operates primarily out of its manufacturing facilities in Leeds, West Yorkshire. The company produces both branded goods and private-label products for major retailers. Its brand portfolio has grown to include well-known names like Mug Shot, Naked, and Twistd, alongside licensing agreements for other global food brands.
Following a period of private equity ownership, Symington's was acquired in 2021 by the Italian food giant Newlat Food S.p.A. This acquisition integrated the British heritage brand into a larger European network, providing Symington's with broader distribution capabilities and resources while maintaining its strong UK-based manufacturing footprint.
