Sanex is a prominent personal care brand that was founded in Spain in 1984 by the Sara Lee Corporation. Originally launched with a pioneer non-soap shower gel, the brand focused on skin health and dermatological care, which quickly led to its expansion across Europe. In 2009, Unilever acquired the brand as part of a larger purchase of Sara Lee's personal care division. However, due to anti-trust concerns raised by the European Commission, Unilever was required to divest the brand.

In 2011, the American multinational Colgate-Palmolive acquired Sanex for approximately $940 million. Since then, the brand has been a key part of Colgate-Palmolive's personal care portfolio, maintaining its reputation for products that respect the skin's natural pH and biome. Manufacturing of Sanex products takes place in multiple locations globally to serve its core markets in Europe and South Africa, often utilizing Colgate-Palmolive's regional production facilities.
