Oral-B is a globally recognized American brand specialized in oral hygiene products. The brand's history dates back to 1950 when Dr. Robert W. Hutson, a California-based periodontist, designed and patented a new type of toothbrush with soft nylon bristles. Originally a family-owned venture, the brand was later acquired by Gillette in 1984, which expanded its international presence significantly. In 2005, Procter & Gamble (P&G) acquired Gillette, bringing Oral-B into its massive portfolio of consumer health products.

Manufacturing for Oral-B occurs in several specialized locations across the globe. A significant portion of its manual toothbrushes are manufactured in Iowa City, USA. The brand's electric toothbrush line, often branded as "Oral-B powered by Braun," is primarily engineered and manufactured in Germany (specifically in Marktheidenfeld and Kronberg). Other components, such as chargers and certain entry-level power models, are produced in China, while dental floss is famously produced in Ireland. This distributed manufacturing model allows the brand to leverage regional expertise and serve its availability in over 150 countries.
