Royal Enfield motorcycles

Royal Enfield is recognized as the oldest motorcycle brand in continuous production, with its heritage dating back to 1901. The brand was originally established by The Enfield Cycle Company Limited in Redditch, Worcestershire, England. During its early years, the company was famous for its slogan 'Made Like a Gun,' reflecting its history of manufacturing precision firearms components. The iconic 'Bullet' model, introduced in 1932, remains the longest-running motorcycle design in history.

In 1955, the British company partnered with Madras Motors in India to form Enfield India, establishing a manufacturing plant in Chennai (then Madras) to assemble the Bullet for the Indian Army and police. While the original British company eventually ceased operations in the UK in 1971, the Indian subsidiary continued production. In 1994, the Indian multinational Eicher Motors Limited acquired Enfield India and rebranded it as Royal Enfield Motors Limited.

Today, Royal Enfield is a global leader in the middleweight motorcycle segment (250cc-750cc). Its primary manufacturing and research hubs are located in Tamil Nadu, India, complemented by a major technical center in Bruntingthorpe, UK. To support international markets, the company operates several Completely Knocked Down (CKD) assembly facilities across South America and Southeast Asia, ensuring a truly global footprint while maintaining its Indian manufacturing core.
