Merida is a world-renowned bicycle brand with a unique dual-heritage structure. While the brand and its parent company, Merida Industry Co., Ltd., are headquartered in Yuanlin, Taiwan, its research and development operations have been centered in Magstadt, Germany, since 2001. This 'German engineering meets Taiwanese production' model allows the company to design high-performance frames in Europe while leveraging Taiwan's world-class manufacturing infrastructure.

Manufacturing takes place across several major facilities. High-end frames and prototypes are primarily 'Handmade in Taiwan' at the company's main factory. To meet global demand, Merida also operates significant production plants in China (Shenzhen and Dezhou). Additionally, specialized assembly for electric bikes and certain European-specific models occurs at their facility in Germany. The brand is famously linked to Specialized Bicycles, as Merida owns a 49% stake in the American company and serves as its primary manufacturer.

Originally founded as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for Western brands like Raleigh, Merida launched its own namesake brand in 1988. Today, it is one of the world's largest bicycle producers, consistently delivering award-winning road, mountain, and gravel bikes used by professional UCI WorldTour teams.
