Merida bicycles

Merida is a globally recognized bicycle brand that originated in Taiwan in 1972. Founded by Ike Tseng, the company was born out of a mission to prove that Taiwanese-made bicycles could meet the highest international quality standards. Initially serving as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for famous Western brands, the company launched its own 'Merida' brand in 1988.

Today, Merida stands as one of the world's largest bicycle manufacturers. The brand operates under a unique 'Designed in Germany, Made in Taiwan' philosophy, maintaining a sophisticated R&D center in Magstadt, Germany, while utilizing its high-tech manufacturing facilities in Taiwan and mainland China. Merida is also a significant stakeholder in other major brands, notably holding a minority stake (currently around 35%) in the American brand Specialized.

The company remains publicly traded on the Taiwan Stock Exchange and is managed by the third generation of the Tseng family. Its products range from professional-grade racing machines used by teams like Team Bahrain Victorious to electric bikes and commuter cycles, distributed in over 70 countries.
