Honda is a global leader in the automotive and mobility sectors, originally founded in Japan in 1946 by engineer Soichiro Honda. What began as a small operation producing auxiliary engines for bicycles has evolved into the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer and a premier global producer of automobiles, power equipment, and even aerospace technology.

Today, Honda operates a vast and decentralized manufacturing network with approximately 67 production facilities across 24 countries. This strategy of localized production ensures that vehicles like the Civic, Accord, and CR-V are often built in the regions where they are sold. Major manufacturing hubs include Japan (Suzuka and Saitama), North America (Ohio, Alabama, and Indiana in the U.S., as well as Ontario, Canada), and several key locations across Asia including Thailand, India, Indonesia, and China.

As of 2026, Honda remains an independent, publicly-traded corporation headquartered in Tokyo. While the company maintains strategic partnerships—most notably a major 2024 Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate with Nissan and Mitsubishi to form a powerful Japanese automotive alliance—Honda Motor Co., Ltd. remains the ultimate owner of its core brand and its luxury division, Acura.
