Pringles originated in the United States in the late 1960s, created by Procter & Gamble as a solution to consumer complaints about broken and greasy potato chips. The brand revolutionized the snack industry with its iconic hyperbolic paraboloid shape and cylindrical can packaging, which preserves the chips and keeps them uniform.

While originally an American creation, the brand's manufacturing footprint has expanded globally to meet international demand. Major production facilities are located in the United States, Belgium (serving the European market), Malaysia, and China. In 2012, the brand underwent a significant ownership change when it was acquired from P&G by the Kellogg Company. Following a corporate separation in 2023, the brand is now part of Kellanova, a global snacks-focused company headquartered in Chicago.
