Cameo Fruttapec 3:1 is a popular pectin-based gelling agent used for making homemade jams and marmalades with reduced sugar content. The brand 'Cameo' is the Italian division of the German multinational Dr. Oetker. Originally established in Milan in 1933 as a branch of the Oetker group to produce and distribute German-style baking products, the company later moved its headquarters to Desenzano del Garda.
The brand name was changed to 'Cammeo' in 1953 and simplified to 'Cameo' in 1985 to better align with Italian pronunciation. Today, Cameo is a household name in Italy, synonymous with baking aids, desserts, and frozen pizzas. While the brand has deep Italian roots and local production facilities, it remains a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Oetker Group, a family-owned German conglomerate that operates globally in the food, beverage, and hospitality sectors.
