Pfanni is a household name in Germany, synonymous with high-quality potato products. Founded in 1949 in Munich by Werner Eckart, the brand pioneered the production of potato flakes and ready-to-make potato dishes, revolutionizing post-war German kitchens. The Rösti variety shown here is a classic Swiss-style potato pancake popular throughout the DACH region.
While Pfanni was originally a family-owned German company, it was acquired by the British-Dutch multinational Unilever in 1993. Today, Unilever continues to manage and distribute the brand globally. Production remains centered in Germany, primarily at the Stavenhagen plant in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, which is one of the largest potato processing facilities in Europe, ensuring that the brand maintains its local heritage and quality standards.
