Malaco confectionery

Malaco is a renowned Scandinavian confectionery brand with a history dating back to 1934. The name is an acronym derived from the Malmö Lakrits Company, reflecting its origins in Malmö, Sweden, where it was founded by the Danish company Lagerman. Over the decades, Malaco has become synonymous with iconic treats such as Gott & Blandat, Djungelvrål, and Swedish Fish (known as Pastellfiskar in Sweden).

Ownership of the brand has transitioned through several major food conglomerates over the years, including Marabou, Kraft General Foods, and Leaf. Since 2012, Malaco has been owned by Cloetta AB, a leading Nordic confectionery company. While the original Malmö factory closed in 2001, production continues across Cloetta's modern manufacturing network, primarily in Sweden, to serve its major markets in the Nordic region and North America.
