Pokémon GO mobile game

Pokémon GO is a world-renowned augmented reality (AR) mobile game. It was originally developed and published by Niantic, Inc. in collaboration with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. The game allows players to use mobile device GPS to locate, capture, train, and battle virtual creatures, called Pokémon, which appear as if they are in the player's real-world location.

Since its launch in 2016, Pokémon GO has become a global phenomenon. While the software is developed primarily in the United States by Niantic, the underlying intellectual property (Pokémon) has its roots in Japan. As a digital product, it is hosted on global server infrastructures and available worldwide via major app stores.

The brand is ultimately managed by The Pokémon Company, which is a joint venture between three Japanese gaming giants: Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures. Niantic remains the primary operator and developer of the mobile application under license.
