Wellaflex is a long-standing hair styling sub-brand under the Wella umbrella, which was founded in 1880 by Franz Ströher in Germany. Originally focusing on hairnets and later professional hair dyes and salon equipment, Wella became one of the most recognized global names in hair care.

In contemporary history, the brand has seen several shifts in ownership. It was acquired by Procter & Gamble in 2003, then sold to Coty Inc. in 2016. As of 2020, KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts) acquired a majority stake in Wella (including Wellaflex) from Coty, forming a standalone company known as Wella Company. The Wella Company is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and continues to manufacture its products across various global facilities, with Germany remaining a primary manufacturing hub for the European market.
