Biotex is a well-known laundry detergent brand originally famous for being the first to use biological enzymes to break down tough stains like grease and protein. The brand was launched in 1963 by the Dutch company Kortman & Schulte, based in Rotterdam. Over the decades, it became a household staple across Europe, particularly in the Netherlands and Scandinavia.

After various corporate changes, including ownership by Akzo and later Sara Lee Corporation, the brand was acquired by the British multinational Unilever in 2011 as part of a larger deal involving Sara Lee's personal care and European laundry businesses. Today, Biotex is managed as part of Unilever's extensive home care portfolio. While originally produced in the Netherlands, manufacturing now occurs in various facilities across Europe to serve different regional markets, including dedicated specialized products for soaking and hand-washing.
