Tampax is one of the world's most recognizable brands in menstrual hygiene. The brand's history dates back to the early 1930s when Dr. Earle Haas invented and patented the first modern applicator tampon in the United States. Following the patent, Gertrude Tendrich bought the rights and founded the Tampax Sales Corporation in 1934 to bring the product to the mass market.
Today, Tampax is a flagship brand under the Procter & Gamble (P&G) umbrella, having been acquired by the multinational giant in 1997. As a global brand, its manufacturing footprint is extensive. While a significant portion of production occurs in the United States (specifically in Auburn, Maine), P&G utilizes a global supply chain with manufacturing facilities located in various regions to serve international markets including Europe and Asia. The 'Non Plastic' range shown represents a modern shift towards more sustainable materials within their legacy product line.
Ownership remains strictly with Procter & Gamble, a Cincinnati-based multinational corporation that manages a diverse portfolio of consumer goods. They oversee the brand's global distribution, research and development, and sustainable packaging initiatives.
