This arrangement ensures that the university receives dividends to fund research and education, while the company remains privately held and independent, allowing it to maintain its long-term focus on innovation without the pressure of quarterly earnings reports for public shareholders. In 2023, the 'Bose Professional' division was sold to the private equity firm Transom Capital Group, but the core consumer electronics brand remains under the original private structure.
