Pantene is one of the world's most recognized hair care brands, originally founded in Switzerland in 1945 by Hoffman-La Roche. The name was inspired by panthenol, a provitamin B5 ingredient discovered during research on burnt skin treatments which proved remarkably effective for hair health.
Today, Pantene is owned by the American multi-national consumer goods corporation Procter & Gamble (P&G). While the brand has Swiss roots, its products are manufactured globally in various facilities to serve different markets. For the European market, a significant portion of production occurs in France and Romania. The brand continues to lead in hair care innovation under P&G's extensive portfolio, focusing on 'Pro-V' nutrient-infused formulas.
