Windsor Salt

Windsor Salt is a historic Canadian household brand that traces its roots back to 1893 in Windsor, Ontario. The brand was founded when the Canadian Pacific Railway struck salt while drilling for water, leading to the establishment of the Windsor Salt Company.

For much of its history, the brand was a cornerstone of Canadian industry. Over time, ownership shifted through various mergers. It was long owned by Morton Salt, which became part of the German conglomerate K+S Group (Kali und Salz AG). In 2021, the Americas salt business of K+S, including Windsor Salt and Morton Salt, was acquired by Stone Canyon Industries Holdings (SCIH). The manufacturing primarily occurs within Canada at facilities like the Pugwash mine in Nova Scotia, the Windsor mine in Ontario, and the Seleine mine in Quebec.
