Imodium is one of the world's most recognized brands for the treatment of diarrhea, known specifically for its active ingredient, loperamide. The 'Instants' variety is a specialized oral lyophilized tablet designed to dissolve instantly on the tongue without the need for water, making it a staple for travelers and those seeking fast relief.

The brand's history is rooted in the pharmaceutical innovations of Janssen Pharmaceutica, founded by Dr. Paul Janssen in Belgium. Janssen discovered loperamide in 1969, and the brand was subsequently developed under the Johnson & Johnson umbrella after the two companies merged. For decades, Imodium was a flagship product of Johnson & Johnson’s Consumer Health division.

In a major corporate restructuring completed in 2023, Johnson & Johnson spun off its consumer health business into a new independent company called Kenvue Inc. Today, Kenvue is the ultimate owner of Imodium, overseeing its global production and distribution. While manufacturing occurs in several high-standard facilities worldwide to meet global demand, a significant portion of the European supply, including the Instants tablets, is produced in specialized pharmaceutical plants in France.
