Fry's Cocoa is one of the most storied names in the history of chocolate, tracing its roots back to J. S. Fry & Sons, founded in Bristol, England, in the 18th century. The company is famously credited with producing the first solid chocolate bar for mass consumption. Over the centuries, the brand became synonymous with high-quality baking and drinking cocoa powders.

In the early 20th century, the brand merged with Cadbury, another British chocolate giant, to form a powerhouse in the confectionery industry. Today, while the manufacturing of Fry's products has shifted—with much of the cocoa powder production for the North American market centered in Canada—it remains a staple under the stewardship of global food conglomerates.

Currently, Fry's is owned by Mondelez International, which acquired the Cadbury portfolio in 2010.
