Ichnusa is an iconic beer brand from Sardinia, Italy, named after the ancient Greek name for the island. Founded in 1912 by Amsicora Capra in Cagliari, it has become a symbol of Sardinian identity, featuring the 'Four Moors' flag prominently on its label. The brand is particularly famous for its 'Non Filtrata' (unfiltered) lager, which is left to settle naturally to maintain a more full-bodied flavor and appearance.
While it remains deeply rooted in Sardinian culture, the brewery was acquired by the Dutch multinational Heineken N.V. in 1986. Today, production continues primarily at the Assemini brewery near Cagliari, Sardinia, ensuring its logistical connection to its island home while benefiting from the global distribution network of its parent company. Heineken is one of the world's largest brewing companies, based in Amsterdam.
