JBL is a world-renowned name in audio technology, founded in 1946 by James Bullough Lansing in the United States. Over the decades, JBL transitioned from an independent innovator to a global powerhouse in both professional and consumer audio markets.

In 1969, the parent company of JBL was acquired by Sidney Harman, leading to the formation of Harman International Industries. The manufacturing processes have evolved to meet global demand, with most consumer electronics like portable Bluetooth speakers and headphones now being produced primarily in China and other specialized manufacturing hubs across Asia and North America.

Today, JBL is a subsidiary of Harman International. Since March 2017, Harman has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, headquartered in Suwon, South Korea.
