Microsoft Xbox Series S

The Xbox Series S is a digital-only home video game console developed by Microsoft as part of the ninth generation of video game consoles. It was released alongside the Xbox Series X in November 2020. Designed as a more affordable, compact entry point into modern gaming, it lacks a physical disc drive and targets high-performance gaming at a lower resolution compared to its larger counterpart.

The Xbox brand originated in the United States and was developed by a team at Microsoft that included Kevin Bachus and Seamus Blackley. Since its debut in 2001, Microsoft has remained the sole owner and developer of the Xbox ecosystem. While the design and engineering take place in the United States, the manufacturing is primarily outsourced to facilities in China and sometimes other Asian territories to manage global distribution scales.
