Slotts is a legendary Swedish brand with roots dating back to 1919 when it was founded in Uppsala, Sweden. For nearly a century, Slotts was an iconic local producer, famously utilizing Swedish-grown mustard seeds and manufacturing its signature glass jar and tube products at the historical 'Slottet' factory. It became a staple in Swedish households, known for its balanced sweetness and pungency.
In the 1990s, the brand was acquired by the global consumer goods giant Unilever. In 2008, Unilever made the controversial decision to close the historic factory in Uppsala and move production abroad. Today, while the brand maintains its strong Swedish identity and heritage marketing, the actual manufacturing of Slotts mustard takes place in Poland. The brand remains under the portfolio of Unilever, one of the world's largest food and personal care conglomerates.
