Zewa stands as one of the most recognized brands in the European paper products market. The brand originated in Germany, and its name is an acronym derived from the 'Zellstoffabrik Waldhof' (Waldhof Cellulose Factory), where paper production began in Mannheim. Over several decades, the brand has built a reputation for high-quality hygiene products including bathroom tissue, facial tissues, and kitchen towels.
Zewa products are manufactured across various European locations to serve local markets efficiently. The brand maintains significant production facilities in Germany, Austria, France, and parts of Eastern Europe. This regional manufacturing strategy helps minimize logistical costs and ensures that supply chains remain responsive to consumer demand for essential hygiene products.
Originally founded by Zellstoffabrik Waldhof, the brand eventually became part of the Swedish SCA group. In 2017, SCA spun off its hygiene and health business into a new publicly listed company called Essity. Today, Essity, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, remains the ultimate owner of Zewa. Essity is a global leader in the hygiene sector, managing a portfolio of major brands such as Tork, Libero, and Leukoplast, focusing on sustainable development and medical hygiene solutions.
