While many of its private-label products are sourced from low-cost manufacturing hubs in Asia, primarily China, the company also sources products from European manufacturers to stock its rapidly expanding store network.

Founded in Sweden, the brand has grown from a local discount store to a major international player. In 2022, the company's future changed significantly when it was acquired by the Dutch discount giant Action's competitor style group, or more specifically, the Polish-founded and UK-headquartered Pepco Group. This acquisition has integrated Dollarstore into one of the largest retail conglomerates in Europe, allowing for greater vertical integration and broader supply chain access.
