The product was created as a nutritional supplement made from barley malt, milk, and eggs, designed to combat malnutrition at the time. Its distinctive orange packaging and Swiss heritage remain key identifiers of the brand's identity.

While the brand is global, it is currently owned by Associated British Foods (ABF), which acquired the international rights in 2002. However, the production for the European market, particularly the flagship powder shown in the image, remains centered in Switzerland. The brand operates under the Wander AG subsidiary, which continues to manufacture products at its specialized facility in Neuenegg, maintaining the 'Made in Switzerland' quality standard visible on the label.
