Staub is a premium French manufacturer of enameled cast iron cookware, famously known for 'La Cocotte.' The brand was founded in 1974 by Francis Staub in Alsace, France, a region renowned for its culinary tradition and craftsmanship. Staub products are distinguished by their matte black enamel interiors and self-basting lids designed with 'spikes' to continuously distribute moisture during cooking.

In 2008, Staub was acquired by Zwilling J.A. Henckels, a prominent German manufacturer of kitchen knives and housewares. Despite the German ownership, Staub has maintained its identity as a French brand, with its primary manufacturing facility still located in Merville, France.
