Galbanino cheese

Galbanino is one of Italy's most famous mild, semi-hard cheeses, known for its iconic cylindrical shape and white protective wax. Originally created in 1956, it was designed to be a versatile daily table cheese that captured the traditional flavors of Italian dairy craftsmanship. It is primarily produced in the Melzo and Casale Cremasco plants in Italy.

While the brand is deeply rooted in Italian heritage, its ownership has transitioned over the decades to international conglomerates. Originally a family-run business started by Egidio Galbani, today the brand is part of a global portfolio. Since 2006, Galbani has been owned by the French dairy giant Lactalis, reflecting the consolidation of major European food brands under large multinational corporations. Despite the change in ownership, Galbanino continues to be manufactured in its home country using traditional Italian methods.
