Dockers is a world-renowned American brand primarily famous for popularizing the khaki category and the concept of 'Casual Fridays' in corporate culture. The brand was founded in 1986 by Levi Strauss & Co. in San Francisco, California. Its origins trace back to a line of nautically inspired fashion trousers from Levi's Japan, which were brought to the U.S. and rebranded for a professional yet casual audience. During the late 1980s and 1990s, Dockers became a market leader in men's business casual wear.

Historically, Dockers products were manufactured in the United States, including a former factory in Blackstone, Virginia. However, in the modern era, production has shifted globally. While a small 'Made in USA' collection was reintroduced recently for specific capsule lines, the majority of Dockers apparel is manufactured in countries such as Cambodia, Bangladesh, and Vietnam to leverage global supply chain efficiencies.

In a major strategic shift, Levi Strauss & Co. sold the Dockers brand to Authentic Brands Group (Authentic) for approximately $311 million. The transaction was finalized on February 27, 2026. This move allowed Levi's to refocus on its core denim products while placing Dockers under the management of Authentic, a New York-based firm known for scaling lifestyle and entertainment brands through extensive licensing and global expansion partnerships.
