Stressless Recliner and Furniture

Stressless is a renowned premium furniture brand specializing in ergonomic recliners, sofas, and office chairs. It was first introduced in 1971 by the Norwegian company Ekornes and became famous for its patented 'Glide system' which automatically adjusts to the user's body weight and movement. The brand is synonymous with Scandinavian design and comfort engineering.

While the primary manufacturing hub remains based in Norway (specifically Sykkylven), the production footprint has expanded to include specialized facilities in Thailand and a local assembly plant in the United States to serve the North American market more efficiently.

The brand underwent a major ownership change in 2018 when Ekornes was acquired by Qumei Home Furnishings. This acquisition integrated the Norwegian heritage of Stressless with the global scale of a major Chinese furniture group, ensuring continued international growth while maintaining the original Nordic design philosophy.
